Sunday School Assistant - The Mother Church

Performs a variety of administrative duties that are key to the smooth functioning of TMC Sunday School, including scheduling, maintaining student and volunteer records, gathering data into spreadsheets, filing, and maintaining an orderly office and Sunday School environment. Coordinates Sunday morning Greeters and Wednesday childcare. Is in regular contact with volunteers, parents, students, and other employees of TMC. Contributes fresh, creative ideas and solutions to problems that keep the Sunday School moving forward.
Unlike other positions, you must be able to work on Sundays(day) and Wednesday (evenings); however, you can trade a week-day as a day off.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Handles routine and detail work (50%). These can include:
a. Inputs and maintains data in a word processing, spreadsheet, or database system. Generates regular reports.
b. Provides routine and detail support for projects.
c. Maintains Sunday School files. Organizes, files and retrieves items.
d. Photocopies.
e. Handles incoming phone calls, takes messages, provides information to callers, or routes as necessary.
f. Arranges meetings, schedules appointments/meetings.
g. Processes and completes routine paperwork. Routes as needed.
h. Receives visitors and makes them feel comfortable.
i. Orders and stocks supplies for the Sunday School.
j. Performs other duties as assigned.
2. Performs administrative duties (50%). These can include:
a. Creates/prepares complex schedules, reports, spreadsheets, graphs, and charts.
b. Assembles information received from multiple sources into reports. Summarizes, evaluates, edits and proofreads.
c. Performs desktop publishing - lays out and produces items.
d. Coordinates department’s day-to-day administrative activities with other departments, such as Purchasing, Technology Services Group, Personnel, and Financial.
e. Develops, recommends, and implements improvements in administrative procedures and office automation.
f. Researches questions or issues of interest, and provides reports for manager’s use and information.
g. May direct the work of on-callers.

Knowledge of word processing, spreadsheets, databases, and related graphing and reporting software. Christian Science Information
Membership in The Mother Church and Primary class instruction are preferred.
