Meet the TMC Youth Team

Chet Manchester - Creative Director

Chet Manchester

Senior Manager, Creative Director

Chet is TMC Youth’s senior manager and creative director as well as a member of the Board of Lectureship. He focuses on youth issues in his lectures. Chet has lived in Kenya, France, and on both US coasts while working as an artist, creative director, and spiritual activist. For the last decade he’s brought his love for the arts and Christian Science to Boston, serving both The Mother Church and The Mary Baker Eddy Library in numerous capacities. In addition to envisioning what the reflecting pool would be like as the world’s biggest ice skating rink, he likes to think about what the Christian Science movement would be like if youth were in charge. If he has his way, most young Christian Scientists who call or visit Boston anytime soon will end up on the TMC Youth staff (just ask some of the current staff who got their jobs after stopping by).

Ariana Herlinger - Podcaster and Videographer

Ariana Herlinger

Manager, CSO’s & Interns

Ariana manages Christian Science Organization (CSO) support and the internship program. Her work with young people spans two continents and a number of projects including leading wilderness trips for at-risk youth and developing leadership and empowerment opportunities for girls in West Africa. She loves how TMC Youth gives her opportunities to interact with young Christian Scientists around the world and hear how they are making a difference in their churches and their communities through Christian Science.

Ariana has an adventurous spirit, loves to travel, and is willing to try just about anything once. She has been on many adventures throughout Asia and Africa, where she has sampled the likes of scorpion shish-kabobs and goat hooves.

Susie Rynerson - Youth issues

Susie Rynerson

Manager, Sunday Schools

Susie is a member of the Board of Lectureship who focuses on youth issues. She also works with Sunday Schools for TMC Youth, and in that role, she's been in touch with Sunday School superintendents, teachers, and students all over the world and wants to meet more! She’s been working with them—sharing ideas and prayers about how to teach and use resources effectively—to invigorate and expand their Sunday Schools. Until recently, Susie lived in Spain. But she couldn't pass up the opportunity to work with people she thinks are great. The convergence of her love of children, people, travel, and Boston pulled Susie and her two dogs back to the US. She still speaks Spanish—and misses the Iberian ham and kite surfing she left behind—but is absolutely sure God has a great plan and adventure up His sleeve for everyone no matter where they are.

Bill Warrick

Bill Warrick

Manager, Youth Summits and Activities & Membership

Bill Warrick works with summits and church membership, as well as local church activities here in Boston. He comes to us from the Sierra Nevada foothills of Northern California where he enjoyed being near many of his favorite things — alpine skiing, kayaking, mountain biking, and the western wilderness. From the first day Bill visited TMC Youth while on his way through Boston (we’re pretty flexible here), his love for connecting youth with Christian Science made the relationship a natural fit. Fortunately, his enthusiasm was unshaken by the inevitable realization that moving TMC Youth headquarters to California was, well, very unlikely. Bill has a background in experiential learning i.e., helping others to learn by doing, and through his experiences with youth organizations like Outward Bound and several Christian Science camps, he has developed a deep conviction about the potential of youth when called to real action, especially in the Christian Science Movement. He’s convinced that as youth are called to be truly active in the greatest Cause, they will be capable of fulfilling any role in the Movement, and will meet the world’s needs with “practical, operative Christian Science” (Miscellaneous Writings 1883-1896, p. 207).

Amy Richmond

Amy Richmond

Managing Editor

Amy has loved to travel ever since she took her first flight to Disneyland in the first grade. She's visited a lot of countries and lived in a few of them. Her international focus is one reason that working at tmcyouth.com as managing editor feels like such a good fit. She loves to see the connections made on the site from around the world, openly discussing all aspects of something close to her heart—Christian Science. Amy’s spent years editing audio, video and print media. Her latest gig was as staff editor for spirituality.com where her love for the web grew. Its 24/7 accessibility lends itself perfectly to a growing community of young people.

Sharman Brown

Sharman Brown

Media Production

is a native Bostonian and loves all things video. She produces our podcasts, and has a hand in all our media production. She has served The Mother Church producing a number of videos throughout the years. She loves music and is on a quest to instate mandatory dance breaks at work. She also loves basketball, bicycling and spending her summers at Indian powwows. She’s very excited to be working with TMCYouth!

Roger Gordon - CSO and internship support

Roger Gordon

CSO Administration & Intern Support

Roger has always loved working with young adults and cherishes Christian Science, so coming to work with Christian Science Organization’s (CSOs) and Internship Support at TMC Youth is a natural. He loves theatre. He has acted in many plays and musicals with young people, and most recently has taken up playwriting. This interest first showed itself in second grade when he jumped onto an outdoor stage in a Seattle park and exuberantly told his family a joke about vipers and window washing. The theatre bug never left him, though he did go through a brief period of yearning to play NBA basketball. More recently, Roger ran a one-person CSO at Bennington College where he hosted a few Christian Science lectures and other events related to spiritual interests. He believes that CSOs have inspiring potential to address the needs of college students from a spiritual perspective, and he’s thrilled to see the exciting work CSOs will be doing in the coming months and years.

David Bates - Project Associate

David Bates

Project Associate

David grew up in the suburbs of Indianapolis and is a Midwestern boy at heart, but he loves to travel. He has spent significant time in Tucson, Boston, and the St. Louis area, as well as in Peru and Japan. David knew he wanted to work in broadcasting ever since he was a kid playing with a video camera and tape recorder-hosting, producing, and starring in his own shows. He's translating all of those skills to his work with the TMC Youth podcast team where he's one of the hosts, producers, and editors. In his spare time, David loves to rollerblade or run through the Esplanade in Boston, play tennis, and ultimate Frisbee (a TMC Youth staple). He also likes to stay current with the news and sports. One of David's favorite quotes from Mary Baker Eddy is: "At all times and under all circumstances, over come evil with good. Know thyself, and God will supply the wisdom and the occasion for a victory over evil" (Science and Health, p,571). It's a great guideline for his work at The Mother Church.

Kevin Hennenberger - Project Associate

Kevin Henneberger

Project Associate

Kevin is from the great state of Texas. He came to Boston as an intern in May, and found he couldn't break away from the team! He's taking some time off from classes at Texas A&M to help coordinate Summits for TMC Youth. He initially made contact with TMC Youth because of his involvement with the CSO at A&M, and he's found that the skills he used in that work is helping him with event organizing and logistics.

Summit work keeps him busy, but in the little spare time he has, Kevin enjoys backpacking, bowling, singing country music, and slipping subtle jokes into conversations. He's adapted well from Texas to Boston, (walking, instead of driving...cold, instead of hot...dense city life, instead of wide open spaces).

Kevin's had countless healings since he's come to work at the church, because he's really studying Christian Science. He loves it here, but can't wait to go back to Texas and show everyone what he's learned.
